Jujitsu classes at Putteridge Recreation Centre
Welcome to the home of International Atemi Jujitsu's Putteridge based jujitsu club. One of many jujitsu clubs in the Luton and Dunstable areas of Bedfordshire and the second training venue available in the Stopsley area.
Putteridge local history
Putteridge is a small part of the Stopsley ward situated in the east of Luton. The area spans from Jansel House in Stopsley village, up along the A505 towards Butterfield Green Business Park and up Putteridge Rd to Putteridge Recreation Centre and Putteridge High School.
The area also includes Putteridge Bury, a mansion house built in 1911 and styled on Chequers which now forms part of the University of Bedfordshire.
Many of the houses in the Putteridge area were built in the 1930s by Janes the Builders of Luton, original owners of Jansel House. The area is surrounded by green space including Lothair Road, and Butterfield Green Business Park, a new industrial development created to boost the local economy and the district of Luton as a whole.
Excluding the schools in Stopsley village itself, Putteridge located schools include: Putteridge Infants, Putteridge Juniors and Putteridge High School, which specialises as a maths and computing school.
As well as serving the local community Putteridge Recreation Centre also provides sporting facilities for the adjoining Putteridge High School.
Jujitsu and Putteridge
There was a Sunday morning jujitsu club at Putteridge a few years ago, run by fellow IAJJ instructor Kevin Brown before it relocated to Stopsley.
Putteridge features many other martial arts classes such as Judo, Karate and Kick Boxing but this will be Jujitsu's first appearance at Putteridge since Kevin's class.
